100 Prong Chasen (Matcha Whisk) How to Use A Chasen

Ascend Chasen (Matcha Whisk)

$20.00

This (100 prong) chasen (matcha whisk) is perhaps the most indispensable tool when it comes to curating matcha. In traditional Japanese culture, a chasen is used to aerate the matcha and froth into a mouse-like foam.

Metal whisks may affect the taste of the matcha. Metal slices through the matcha and the Chasen aerates it making for a higher quality experience.

Mix 1 tbsp of Ascend Mushroom Matcha and 2-3oz of hot water (175F) in a bowl. Make a slow swirl around the bowl to blend the powder with the water. Gently whisk in a "w" shape until a mouse-like foam forms.

* To avoid breakage of the delicate prongs, do not press into the bottom of the bowl as you whisk.

After each use, make sure to pour hot water over the chasen until all signs of matcha are gone. If your whisk needs a deeper cleaning, feel free to soak it in hot water (175F) for 5 minutes, rinse, and then let air dry (standing up).
